There is a confirmed issue with some firmware versions of the Netgear.

To quote a Soho66 customer:

The firmware on my Netgear WNR 2000 was the fault. I upgraded it, and that did not fix the problem

I downgraded it to 1.1.3.9 and now calls work

I searched using Google "netgear calls dropping 20 seconds".

I read through the results, and found it was quite common with my router, and someone had downgraded to 1.1.3.9 and that fixed the problem, so I downgraded, and now it works at home as well
