Hi
Sometimes, when making a call, you may receive an engaged tone on your phone and/or an error code on the screen of your phone. Some customers have asked what these error codes mean. The most common ones are listed below, with an explanation as to what they mean.
403
- Forbidden /
407
- Proxy authorisation required.
This happens when your phone has an incorrect username / password. You will most likely also find that you're unable to receive incoming calls if this is the case.
404
- Not found.
The number that you have dialled has not been recognised. Please check the number, and try again.
408
- Request timeout.
This may happen when your phone has temporarily lost connection to the internet, and can't reach our server. The phone will try to send the request to dial to our service, but not receive a response back and eventually give up with this error.
415
- Unsupported media type.
Your phone is incorrectly configured, and is trying to use a voice encoder that is not supported by our platform. Refer to the user guide for your phone and configure the phone to use G711 (PCM) aLaw as a first priority, then G711 (PCM) uLaw, and finally GSM.
486
- Busy here.
The person that you are dialling is unavailable to take the call. This is a genuine engaged tone.
There may be others that happen from time to time. If you spot an error on your phone that is not covered by this list, please add a post and I'll update this topic accordingly.
