Hi

One of our customers (thank you Dave M) has recently had an issue in configuring one of these devices, and decided to share his experience with us, so that other customers may benefit.

Essentially, the device was picking up an IP address from his router, and had configured the device to be able to be administered through the WAN port through web interface but, once the device was connected via WAN port, could not be accessed in any way, shape or form - almost as if the WAN port was broken.

This turned out to be something simple. The 503 can be configured to bridge the two network ports on the back of the device, or have it set in router mode. In router mode, the LAN port is assigned an IP address in the 192.168.2.x range.

If your local network also uses this same address range, the firmware on the device as shipped will block access to the WAN port for security reasons. This is overcome in the latest firmware update, in the fact that the device will check to see if the network range 192.168.2.x exists. If it does, then the LAN port is assigned an IP address in the 192.168.3.x range instead, to resolve the conflict.

Regards

Daryl
